Obama to autoworkers: Thanks for my Ford Escape
President Obama lavished praise Friday on a group of Ford workers -- even thanking them for his old personal car. Saying that he and Ford have "a little history together," Obama told employees at an assembly plant near Kansas City that he is the proud owner of a 2008 Ford Escape, one that is still in good condition. "It came right off these assembly lines." Obama said. "Some of you might have been involved in building it. It was a great car." He added: "The problem is, I got Secret Service about a month after I bought the car, so I've only got 2,000 miles on it ... It is in mint condition. "So I want to say thank you for building my car." The president, who now takes motorcades, also said: "I may roll in in a Cadillac these days... but it's not my car ... I'm renting (it), just like my house."
