Ontario is now the first province to allow drivers to renew their licence online.

A driver’s licence has to be renewed every 5 years and the province now allows you to use your current photo for 10 years.

That means you only have to renew in person every other time time.

Service Ontario processed more than 1.6 million driver’s licence renewal transactions last year. The website accepts Interac and major credit cards for the $80 renewal fee.

Drivers’ licences join about 40 other online options at www.ServiceOntario.ca including license plate stickers, changing addresses and applying for birth, death or marriage certificates.
